 "Yugan" or "yuganzi," also known as "Phyllanthus emblica," "chinese quince," "ahuamoa," "sauropus androgynus," "the Indian holy fruit," and "green gem," is a deciduous tree native to India, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, South America, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Jiangxi, Fujian, Guangdong, Hainan, Guangxi, Sichuan, Guizhou, Yunnan, as well as the Indochinese Peninsula.


The fruit of the Yugan is spherical, with a diameter of about 1-2 centimeters. When ripe, it turns reddish-yellow or pale yellow. The flesh is pulpy, and its taste is a combination of sour, bitter, and sweet. It can be consumed raw or pickled with sugar or salt before eating.
